A VETERAN AFFAIR

In July 2007, I was privileged to have actor Michael Winslow agree to come to West Palm Beach and star in a short movie that I had written called A VETERAN AFFAIR. He played the part of William, one of two wounded Vietnam War veterans who meet two or three times a week to pass the time playing chess. Along with Michael Winslow, I was excited to have Bob Carter, a local actor-director, agree to co-star with Michael and play the part of Ted.

This movie premiered at the Delray Beach Film Festival in Delray Beach, Florida on May 21, 2009. It was nominated for "Best film by a first time director" at the International Christian Film Festival in the United Kingdom in August, 2009. It is scheduled to be featured at the African Enterprise Film Festival in 2010.

A VETERAN AFFAIR will soon be available for sale, download or streaming video. I am excited about this movie because everyone who has seen the final version has spoke very well of the result. I plan to enter this film in several major film festivals just to see how it does with the "big boys" of the motion picture industry.

COMING HOME

Several years back, I found a box full of old 8mm film and pictures. Nearly all of the photos and film footage was from my year as an infantry officer during the war in Vietnam. Noticing that the film was starting to deteriorate, I had the footage transfered to digital. After I picked up the finished product, I was at my desk at the Palm Beach Film School viewing the result when the school's director, Jim York, noted what I was watching. When I explained to him what I had, he said that I should put the film and photos together into a movie about my experiences. This I did and the result was the movie COMING HOME.

Over a period of about 18 months, the movie was screened in over a dozen film festivals culminating in its selection to be a part of the GI Film Festival in Washington, DC.  The whole experience of seeing the reactions of the viewers and the questions the movie generated was both thrilling and touching. The movie is now available for purchase through Indieflix by clicking on the poster.
